Either as exhibitors or just visiting, the whole team have been involved in our fair share of conferences. However, it was still a rollercoaster of emotions for the team in the days leading to the show.
Home Delivery USA is highly-acclaimed in the United States, but the recent event held on 23rd & 24th September 2019 in Singapore was their very first show hosted in Asia – which was reason enough to cause scepticism.
Ignoring the doubts creeping in, we fully committed to Home Delivery Asia 2019 and signed on as a Silver Sponsor.
It was huge deal for Detrack, and we definitely did not take the decision lightly. However, any first-time jitters we had vanished as soon as we spoke to the first couple of visitors.
There were over 1,500 attendees gracing the showcase at Suntec Convention Centre, but everyone who came by our booth were already familiar with route optimization or at least aware of process. The experience was unreal.
The visitors were naturally more relatable, and everyone seemed to have lowered their guards a little. Common interests allowed conversations to flow smoothly, and interacting with the crowd ultimately became so much easier.
Sustainable Delivery
Besides being first-time sponsors, another reason that got us really pumped was Fanny (our COO!) sharing her thoughts with the crowd on Sustainable Delivery, a subject matter she’s been increasingly invested in.
By 2050, we are expecting urban freight deliveries to grow by a significant 40%.
Detrack’s Co-Founder took the stage on Day 1 and spoke passionately on the rising demand for urban freight along with population growth. She mentioned how the world’s megacities will be producing a combined GDP of $30 trillion, driving nearly 65% of total global growth.

Not all work
While there wasn’t short of visitors dropping by (or shyly floating around) ElasticRoute’s booth, the team took time to enjoy the wide range of interesting solutions on show at Home Delivery Asia 2019.
Among the array of logistics firms, it was refreshing to stop and chat with the friendly team from Telepod, a micro-EV-sharing company supplying the world’s longest lasting UL2272 E-scooters.
Based in Singapore, their in-house designed battery technology delivers the most uptime in the mirco-mobility industry. Their fast-growing battery network also allow users to simply swap for a fresh battery when their current one is running low.
Beneficiaries of this useful upgrade are delivery riders (Foodpanda, GrabFood, Deliveroo, etc.) travelling on their E-scooters for long hours everyday. The swappable batteries on the Pod 3, Telepod’s latest micro-Evs, will allow users to swap for a fully-charged battery at any partnered kiosk, minimizing the time taken for charging.

Move it move it
We also had the pleasure to talk guys from Moovaz, the world’s first platform for international moving and relocation.
I was intrigued by everything they shared as I was totally unfamiliar with the relocation industry. Like me, you may have casual ideas regarding the challenges of moving.

Just a peek beyond the surface and you’ll see an exhaustive list of complex processes and exhausting errands so stressful you’d reconsider the need for relocation altogether.
